This sub-series is primarily comprised of lists of Sisters who taught vacation schools in Alamosa, Colorado. The Benedictine Sisters of Chicago had a large presence in the town, especially earlier in the 20th century. A pamphlet about the history of the Sacred Heart Church, a copy of some pages from "Our Community," and an Archives Newsletter are also included.

Scope and Contents Sister Vivian Ivantic, OSB compiled a list of Sisters who taught weekday, Sunday, and summer classes at St. Anthony Church. She included pages on the parish history taken from the 60th anniversary book of St. Michael Church, Cañon City, Colorado. This sub-series details the summer schools of religion run by the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago at various instituions in Cañon City, Colorado, from 1929 to 1965. Sections from a June, 1929 entry of the "Cathechists' Corner," written by Sr. Scholastica Hrusovsky, OSB, describe the earliest days of the city's vacation schools from a first-hand account.

Scope and Contents

This sub-series is comprised of a couple papers listing the Sisters who ran summer schools of religion in Coal Creek, Colorado, along with the years they worked. The 28 students who attended the 1933 vacation school taught by Sr. Leona Schmitt, OSB, appear in two photographs. Also included is "The Gleanor," an article from an unnamed publication on the coal mines surrounding Cañon City, Colorado, which includes a description of Coal Creek prior to a 1907 fire that wrecked the town.

Scope and Contents This sub-series contains a document listing the Sisters who taught vacation schools in Erie, Colorado, along with which years they were present in the town. Unlike the lists in many other sub-series, this paper is a description of Sisters' living quarters during the summer of 1943 and 1944. Also included is an image of Sr. Vivian Ivantic, OSB; Sr. Jeanne Hegarty, OSB; and Marion Greely, St. Scholastica Church's caretaker, outside the parish during a 1989 archives trip to Colorado. Scope and Contents

Despite the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago's 40-year presence in Florence, Colorado, this sub-series is relatively slim. Beyond a two-page list of Sisters who taught vacation schools in the town, the only other material included are two images of a statue of St. Benedict taken outside St. Benedict Church during a 1991 archive trip to Colorado.

Sister Vivian Ivantic, OSB compiled the list of Sisters who taught vacation schools and weekend religious education at Christ the King Church in Portland, Colorado, from 1930 to 1945. At the time, Christ the King Church was a mission of St. Benedict Church in Florence, Colorado. Also included are two photographs from the 1991 archives trip to Colorado.

This series contains a list of Sisters who taught in Rockvale, Colorado, from the late 1920s until the the middle of the 1940s. Pages copied from "Our Community" appear alongside newsclippings and other texts regarding St. Patrick Church and the town at-large. Also included are photographs from a 1991 archives trip to Colorado and an archives newsletter relaying what happened during the trip and the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago's history in the state.
