Alamosa, Colo., 1937 - 1991
This sub-series is primarily comprised of lists of Sisters who taught vacation schools in Alamosa, Colorado. The Benedictine Sisters of Chicago had a large presence in the town, especially earlier in the 20th century. A pamphlet about the history of the Sacred Heart Church, a copy of some pages from "Our Community," and an Archives Newsletter are also included.
Alta Vista, Colo.
This thin sub-series contains an archive note describing which Sisters taught vacation schools in Alta Vista, Colorado, from 1940 to an unknown point in the 1950s. A passage from "Our Community" is included as a supplement beneath the section for 1942. It explains where Sr. Walburg Mater, OSB, and Sr. Gabrielle Pierik, OSB, taught in the town.
Brookside, Colo., 1929 - 1991
Crested Butte, Colo., 1937 - 1992
La Junta, Colo., 1941
This sub-series contains a list of Sisters who taught vacation schools in La Junta, Colorado, from the 1930s to the 1940s. It is unclear what years some Sisters were in the town, so there may have been schools into the 1950s. An image of Sr. Anita Sheid, OSB, standing outside with a priest and several pupils appears alongside postcards of a scout troop nicknamed the "Koshare Indian Dancers," and a short book detailing the history of the Church in La Junta from 1885 to 1986.
Portland, Colo., 1991-1994
Sister Vivian Ivantic, OSB compiled the list of Sisters who taught vacation schools and weekend religious education at Christ the King Church in Portland, Colorado, from 1930 to 1945. At the time, Christ the King Church was a mission of St. Benedict Church in Florence, Colorado. Also included are two photographs from the 1991 archives trip to Colorado.
Pueblo, Colo., 1959
This sub-series is mostly comprised of papers listing Sisters who taught vacation schools in Pueblo, Colorado. The only other material included is a 1959 news clipping mentioning Sr. Walburg Matern, OSB.
Rockvale, Colo., 1955 - 1991
This series contains a list of Sisters who taught in Rockvale, Colorado, from the late 1920s until the the middle of the 1940s. Pages copied from "Our Community" appear alongside newsclippings and other texts regarding St. Patrick Church and the town at-large. Also included are photographs from a 1991 archives trip to Colorado and an archives newsletter relaying what happened during the trip and the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago's history in the state.
Rocky Ford, Colo., 1937 - 1942
This sub-series contains an archives note listing the Sisters who taught vacation schools in Rocky Ford, Colorado, along with a couple news clippings of events relating to the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago's presence in the town. Also included is a photograph of several pupils from one summer, although the year is unknown, and it appears they do not comprise the whole class, as there are more children cut off on the right left side of the frame.
Salida, Colo., 1937
This sub-series is relatively slim considering the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago spent over half the 20th century teaching vacation schools in Salida, Colorado. Beyond a list of Sisters who ran the town's summer schools of religion, the only material included is a page from "Our Community" that briefly mentions Salida and a map highlighting the town's location.
