Alamosa, Colo., 1937 - 1991
This sub-series is primarily comprised of lists of Sisters who taught vacation schools in Alamosa, Colorado. The Benedictine Sisters of Chicago had a large presence in the town, especially earlier in the 20th century. A pamphlet about the history of the Sacred Heart Church, a copy of some pages from "Our Community," and an Archives Newsletter are also included.
Bristol, Colo.
This sub-series lists 1935 and 1935 as the years the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago taught vacation schools in Bristol, Colorado. Sr. Edith Rabida, OSB, along with someone named Holly taught the former, while Sr. Maurus Becker, OSB, taught the latter.
Dolores, Colo., 1936 - 1942
Holly, Colo.
This sub-series contains a list of Sisters who taught in Holly, Colorado, during three summers in the 1930s. Several missions of St. Frances of Rome Church are also listed.
Lamar, Colo., 1936 - 1937
This sub-series begins with a document listing the Sisters who taught summer schools of religion in Lamar, Colorado, from the late 1920s to the mid-1940s. A copy of a page from a section of "Our Community" on 1937 vacation schools, including the one in Lamar. Three small photographs of pupils, Sisters, and prists taken in 1936 and 1937 are also included, along with a map highlighting the town on a map of the region.
Mancos, Colo., 1942?
This sub-series details the four Sisters who taught a vacation school in Mancos, Colorado, during the summer of 1942, and a prank they played on St. Rita Church's priest, Fr. Lane. An image of the Sisters outside of the parish is the only other item included.
Minturn, Colo., 1952 - 2007
This sub-series contains many photos and several news clippings relating to vacation schools the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago taught in Minturn, Colorado, from the late 1930s to late 1970s. Most material was produced during the 1950s.
Salida, Colo., 1937
This sub-series is relatively slim considering the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago spent over half the 20th century teaching vacation schools in Salida, Colorado. Beyond a list of Sisters who ran the town's summer schools of religion, the only material included is a page from "Our Community" that briefly mentions Salida and a map highlighting the town's location.
