Historical Overview, 1967 - 2007
Scope and Contents
This sub-series contains four Archives Newsletters published in 2007 explaining the history of the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago's vacation schools in Illinois, Arizona, and Colorado. Each town is listed, along with its parish, and which Sisters worked where when. A seperate document lists about how many students attended each summer school, while another provides a brief note on what led the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago to run their first vacation school in 1930. Over the years, a dozen towns where Sisters taught have been absorbed into nearby cities, renamed, or abandoned outright. Those absent from maps after 1980 are listed on a document created in Janurary, 1990. More towns may have disappeared since then.
