Scope and Contents The booklets tell the life of the Benedictine saints and founders or novenas (9 consecutive days of prayer for a special intention) and other devotions. These booklets were used to teach and to enhance the prayer of Sisters, their students, and others connected with the community. The bulk of this collection consists of magazine articles, dedicated issues, and memorial books about the Kennedy family and their intersection with American politics in the 1960s. There is a 3-page letter from Sister Barbara McCarry, OSB to her Benedictine Sisters in the Fall of 1960 outlining JFK's platform to encourage their participation in the upcoming election. Scope and Contents The holy cards represent Benedictine Saints as well as other saints. Some holy cards represent exerpts from the Rule of Saint Benedict or other Catholic themes. They often have artwork on one side and a prayer on the back, accomodating different prayer styles.
